This Jeep started out as a mild wheeler, but Kyle Pevehouse spends alot of time in Hot Springs Arkansas running the trails at the Off-Road park, so he decided it was time to move up.
The 4.0 had to go and with plans of 40" or bigger tires in mind V-8 power was the only choice.  We swapped in a 95 LT1 with the 4L60E automatic transmission.  Mated all of that to his pre-existing 4.3 Atlas II for great low end torque and a good low crawl ratio.

To take control of the 42 inch Super Swampers, a shaved 1550 front end, packed with a Detroit Locker and 5.43 gears was built up, complete with high steer and the tie rod tucked behind the axle out of harms way.
The rear is a  35 spline 9", also with a Detroit Locker and 5.43 gears.  You can see we had to test it out a to make sure every thing fit and cleared.

The YJ needed lots of ground clearance but Kyle didn't want it too tall.  The Sunray Strut Arm suspension was chosen for its high clearance, great flex, flat skid plate, and adjustability.  We moved the wheel base out to 102" for added stability.
Look for Kyle when your out on the trail.  This YJ would be hard to mis.
